Brute Horse Announcement

Cologne, August 21, 2024 – Bohemia Interactive, through its Incubator publishing label, is excited to announce its latest collaboration with indie studio Place of Departure on their upcoming game, “Brute Horse”. The announcement was made today at Gamescom 2024, where the project is being showcased to the press and industry professionals.

Rest assured that the unusual commuting arrangement between the barbarian and his horse is just one of many conventions that Brute Horse subverts.

Brute Horse is a slightly unhinged, narrative-driven action platformer with couch co-op that’s set in the barbaric fantasy world of South Vulgaria, where one's life expectancy is as poor as a pigeon's attention to detail. The story revolves around a trio of mercenaries: a barbarian warrior, known only as Brute; his best friend and war horse, Horse; and Michelle, a skilled assassin and aspiring inventress. Their action-packed, yet funny and heartwarming journey, takes them across a number of spectacularly outlandish lands, each with its own unique set of perils. Luckily, early on, the heroes discover the most powerful weapon the world of South Vulgaria (or any world, both real and fictional) has ever seen. The game combines elements of comedy, strategic combat, and puzzle-solving.

Key Features of Brute Horse:

Couch Co-Op Gameplay: Team up with a friend in local co-op mode and coordinate your actions, through Brute and Michelle’s various abilities to overcome numerous challenges, solve puzzles, and defeat your foes.

Dynamic Main Characters: Experience the evolving relationships between the trio as they learn to fight together and crush anything that stands in their path, including various enemies as well as their own shortcomings and emotional baggage.

Cast of Supporting Characters: Meet a cartoonishly odd ensemble of human and non-human friends and foes.

Art Style: Inspired by cartoons, action figures, and fantasy elements, balancing between whimsy, over-the-top seriousness and straight-up ridiculous weirdness.

Engaging Combat and Puzzles: Utilize a blend of fast-paced strategic combat, ridiculous upgrades, and action-driven puzzle-solving to progress through the game.

Unique Storyline: It's actually so unique that, for now, it must be protected by an ironclad non-disclosure agreement, as well as assorted spells and curses.

Worldbuilding: Everything in the game´s world is based on a simple creative formula: Take something utterly ridiculous and figure out how to make it have at least a shred of sense.
