Vigor Full Release 1.0 is Live

Good news everyone. Vigor is now a fully Free-to-Play game for everyone, fully graduated from Xbox Game Preview. The announcement as a part of the Inside Xbox show at Gamescom was a blast. We are going to spend the following days not only watching data, live streams, and social networks for valuable feedback, but we also have a Shelter at Gamescom where you can meet us directly.

Come and give it a try, or just do the same at home, as the game is now just a download away for everyone. Taste the post-war experience in a shoot and loot game situated in Norway. Face the uncertainty of Encounters with other Outlanders, shoot your way out to exits, or just loot the precious resources and Air Drop Crates. Do so to build yourself a safe Shelter and to become a true Outlander – first, to take care of yourself, and then to look out for others.

Update 1.0: Rise

While switching the game to Free-to-Play is maybe the biggest thing with the 1.0 release, there's still more to enjoy. Vigor was playable only in English for the whole Game Preview period, and we are expanding localization to more languages – German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, and French. Closely tied to that, there are going to be more game servers available, even in Southern America and Australia. There are even in-game changes for everyone – the mysterious voice guiding you through the Tutorial is back with more story challenges. To compete with other Outlanders, you need to learn to defend yourself, and utilize a wider selection of weapons, which you'll be able to do so. Last, but definitely not least, as the Founder's Pack is no longer available, there are two new bundles full of cosmetics. The Starter Pack provides you with a set of uniforms to make yourself stand out from the crowd, while the Outlander Pack provides one full-body uniform – the one you see on the box of the game or as a cosplay at our Gamescom Shelter.

Game Preview Journey

Vigor went some insane distance since it entered Xbox Game Preview. A bit more than a year later, we can clearly see all the changes that have made the game better. Feedback from our players helped us shape the game, and provided us with a ton of new ideas to improve it. The Duos feature was not meant to be in the game from the beginning, yet we heard the community, and listened. We want to focus more on the social aspects of Vigor based on the feedback – even adding Random Duos and spectator were natural steps in this direction. We built the system in a way that it allows us to react quickly to feedback, and we were able to deliver tweaks to the settings of weapons in a matter of days after Update 0.9 was in.

And there are less visible changes that are sometimes even more important – we managed to get better performance both in-game (allowing fluent 4K rendering most of time on the Xbox One X, for example) and on servers. We are going to share more details on optimizations in the future – just imagine servers going from a mere 16 fps on average a year ago, to a solid 60 fps nearly all the time nowadays. There's been a steady increase of players in the game since Update 0.9, which ramped up into Free Play Days, and we managed to address a ton of stability issues thanks to your support. There were over 700 000 players in Vigor over the course of Game Preview, 140 000 during the last Free Play Days alone. That's a big responsibility and incentive for us to keep improving the game.

Raise a Rise

Keep in mind that even after a year in Xbox Game Preview, Vigor still has a lot of space to rise. We would like to welcome all the players in the game and ask you to let your voice to be heard. We have plans for future updates and additions, and they can be adjusted based on the community wishes and needs.

It's been a great ride for the last year and we firmly believe it's going to be even more so over the coming years. We would like to thank every player for being with us and we hope we meet in post-war Norway.
