DayZ Cool Edition on Nintendo Switch 2
Hey Survivors,
It's been a while since we've had news like this to share. DayZ is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2, our first launch on a new platform in over seven years. Here's everything you need to know about it.
Three Maps, One Purchase
The Cool Edition isn't just the base game. It bundles the DayZ Frostline expansion on top of it, which means you get all three official maps from day one:
Chernarus, the map that started it all
Livonia, dense forests and a very different kind of pressure
Sakhal, the frozen archipelago where the cold is as dangerous as anything else out there
That's hundreds of square kilometres of survival, three completely distinct climates and playstyles, and no add-ons to hunt down afterwards. For anyone starting DayZ on Switch 2, this is the most complete version of the game you can pick up in a single package.
Content and the Road Ahead
In terms of content, we're keeping things consistent with our existing platforms. That means all official content up to and including the 1.29 Road to Badlands update. DayZ Badlands is the exception for now, as we plan to sync things up and bring the Switch 2 version fully up to date later on down the line.
The launch itself was made possible thanks to our collaboration with our friends at Virtuos Labs – Prague. It marks our first new platform launch in over seven years, and we're glad it's finally in your hands.
How You'll Play
The game is online only, supporting up to 60 players per server on Chernarus and Livonia, and 50 on Sakhal. Offline mode isn't currently in the works, but our partners at Nitrado will support you if you'd like to set up community servers and customize your own experience. DayZ on Switch 2 is also a digital edition only, and we have no plans at the moment to release a physical version.
On the hardware side, we're supporting several features unique to the Switch 2:
Gyro aiming
Joy-Con 2 mouse controls
DLSS and VRR
Touchscreen inventory management
Pro Controller compatibility
Family-group lending
And of course, DayZ can be played across all three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld.
