Everwind: Winds of Creation & Beyond Update
Hey everyone,
The Winds of Creation & Beyond Update is here. It is the biggest content drop Everwind has had so far, and it also brings a change to how your worlds work going forward. Here is everything that came with it.
New World Save System
Let us start with the part that affects every single player. This update introduces the new World Save System, which means worlds will no longer need to be converted after future updates. Your existing world stays exactly as it is, and any newly added content will generate naturally in the parts of the world you have not explored yet.
This is also the last update that requires a world wipe. From here on, your world persists through everything we release next.
Sandbox Mode
Sandbox Mode gives you close to complete freedom to explore, build and experiment without the usual limitations. It comes with a dedicated Sandbox Inventory offering unlimited access to every item currently in the game, along with chat commands for controlling a range of gameplay features.
You can freely experiment with building and world generation, including One Island, which creates a single biome based island with no building boundaries, as well as dedicated Sandbox Islands built specifically for unrestricted building and testing.
Bandit Faction
Bandits are a new aggressive human faction, and for now they have settled in the Forest biome. Their arrival expands the world with new surface structures and dungeons, plus new furniture, equipment and the Big War Horn instrument. More Bandit factions may show up in other biomes in future updates, so this is likely not the last you will hear from them.
Here is a first look at the Bandit faction from Slappy Box Gaming.
Steamer Localizer
The Localizer is a new Mechanism designed to help you track down important things across the world, including islands, objects, bosses and other entities. It runs on special Localizer Cassettes, which can be obtained in several ways, including from the new Navigator merchant. The Localizer recipe itself can be discovered on the Starting Island and in shipwrecks.
This was one of the most requested features from the community, and we have a feeling it is going to end up as one of the most used gadgets in everyday exploration.
New Enemies
There are several new threats waiting out there. Goruk is a new Grimverd mini boss found in Jungle villages and dungeons, while Apex is a powerful new Spinejaw boss encountered in special arenas in the Jungle biome. The update also adds the Spinejaw Alpha, another creature from the Spinejaw species, along with new wildlife in the form of Vultures and Parrots across the Desert and Jungle biomes.
New Weapons & Items
The arsenal grows as well. Claws introduce a completely new fast paced melee weapon type based on daggers, and the new Staffs offer a different approach to magic by focusing purely on Magic Damage rather than elemental effects. You can also find new Apex and Goruk arrows, each with their own special effects.
On top of that there is a selection of unique items to hunt down, including the Golden Fury bow, Apex Claws, the AW 51 Helmet, the Last Serviceman Top Hat, the Astral Robe chestplate and the Scarlet Feather Ring. New Rotten Wood Chests and additional trophies for animals and mobs round things out for anyone who likes to collect everything.
That is the update. Jump in, rebuild, experiment in Sandbox Mode and let us know what you think. We are reading your feedback, and a lot of what is in this update came straight from it.
